With all the companies that I have launched I have worked mostly with virtual teams.
I love virtual teams because they have so many benefits. You can use talent from anywhere, it cuts the cost of an office, you attract employees that like to work from home and much more. The downside to virtual teams is trying to collaborate.
After much trial and error I came up with a list of the best tools to use, to successfully collaborate. .
This is an amazing tool and is free. It allows team members to create and organize tasks and assign them to members of the team. I was easily able to turn Trello into an agile board with stories and tasks, but you can use it however it best suits you.
Google Docs is amazing for collaborating ideas and organizing documents. It allows multiple people to edit a document at once, making it easy for team members to all be on the same page (pun intended) at all times.
There’s nothing quite like actually talking to team members face-to-face. Google Hangouts has improved a lot since it launched and is now the best tool for teams to video chat. Multiple people can chat and video chat at the same time.
Facebook groups allow users to post ideas and comment. It’s a great tool because so many people already know how to use Facebook, so it’s easy to learn how to use.
Bitbucket is great for version control if multiple users are making changes to code. This or GitHub is a must for virtual teams coding a website.
By using these tools your team will be come much more productive and focused.
