Alex Moore went from teaching high schoolers how to write to completing over 1100 copywriting projects at Flocksy in 2 years 🤯. After moving to the States in 2015, Alex realized that while he loved teaching, it was time to: “stop telling others how to write and actually do it myself!”
Now, he is the Copywriting Team Lead at Flocksy, using his teaching skills to train incoming writers and coordinate projects. Read on to hear Alex’s opinion on AI programs like ChatGPT and just how many Grateful Dead concerts he’s been to (hint- it’s a lot 😮).
“There are a lot of things I like about working at Flocksy. The main thing would be working with young and dynamic team members. I’m always amazed at the quality of work they can churn out….Some of the stuff they can do, like write summaries of legal cases or writing blogs for pharmaceutical companies… the breadth of what they can do is amazing… and they work hard.”

“In Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter Thompson says something about the rush you get from sitting down, and writing is unlike anything else. Something is amazing about being in that zone and coming about with amazing, free-flowing prose — it’s a great rush.”
Other than “Copywriter”, you can also call Alex a “Dead Head.” This year alone, he has been to 8 Grateful Dead concerts and listens to their music when looking for inspiration throughout the day. But above all (even Jerry Garcia) — Alex loves to write,
“It feels good when you can get into a zone and write something great, knock something out of the park.”
And boy, does Alex knock it out of the park! He has written everything from wedding video voice overs to a list of Boston’s best places to eat. But his favorite type of content centers around soccer (or football, as the Europeans call it).
“I mean (soccer) is my wheelhouse. I can just sit there and write over 3,000 words about the best 10 English players or the current Brazilian wonder kids because I love it. I don’t need to research, I can go off the top of my head with that stuff.”
Even when he isn’t writing about soccer, Alex is still incredibly grateful he has found his way into a career where he gets to do what he loves all day. He explained that working from home has been a game-changer and has improved his physical and mental health. Not only that, but being able to write from his office or a cafe down the street has allowed him to explore his home city of Chicago even further —
“Living in Chicago is fantastic, our street is fantastic. We’ve got all these green trees with squirrels running everywhere. It’s refreshing.”
“Expose yourself to writing of all forms and writing you aren’t familiar with. Don’t just stick with your strengths. By all means, keep perfecting your craft, but don’t just stay within that. Push yourself, try different things.”
Here at Flocksy, we are all about keeping up with the trends while maintaining our integrity with content exclusively written by real Flocksy writers. While some people may be nervous about AI “taking their jobs,” Alex isn’t worried.
During our interview, he explained that while AI can handle short-form content pretty well, “if you get more in-depth, it gets fairly repetitive and churns out nebulous content.” He also explained that there will always be a place for the “authentic writer” — companies, brands, and people will always be looking for bespoke, tailored content.
“Everyone thought that e-readers were going to kill books. Well, I don’t know many people who choose e-readers over books now. Everyone also thought streaming services would kill CDs, and they did, but they didn’t kill records. So there is always going to be a place for traditional writing.”
He argues that while there is some fear-mongering about AI and what it can do, there isn’t anything to be afraid of — instead, writers could use it to develop their craft further.
“At Flocksy, we will adapt and incorporate more AI and use it to our client’s benefit [only if requested], but there will always be a place for traditional human authenticity.”
Our content at Flocksy is 100% human-written. Still, Alex and the team are ready to use AI at a client’s request and educate themselves on how to spot AI-written content across the web (the repetition of buzz words like “excellence” is usually a clue 😆).
When asked why he likes working at Flocksy, Alex had a lot to say — but focused on gushing about his copywriting team:
“There are a lot of things I like about working at Flocksy. The main thing would be working with young and dynamic team members. I’m always amazed at the quality of work they can churn out….Some of the stuff they can do, like write summaries of legal cases or writing blogs for pharmaceutical companies… the breadth of what they can do is amazing… and they work hard.”
